2,000 Hippo Corpses

LUSAKA, Zambia —
An outbreak of anthrax has killed more than 2,000 hippopotamuses in the Luangwa Valley wildlife sanctuary in the last two weeks, the government said today. The Wildlife Department said the banks of the Luangwa River in eastern Zambia were littered with carcasses.
