The recent union between the Old Globe Theatre and the University of San Diego has spawned a master of fine arts program that is now about to have its first production.

“Scenes from American Life,” by A.R. Gurney Jr. (who wrote the recent Globe produced and Broadway-bound “Another Antigone”) will be performed Nov. 18-21 at the new Performing Arts Center in Sacred Heart Hall on the USD campus. Gurney’s story of America’s social development between the 1930s and 1970s will be performed by the seven master’s candidates, who will be joined by two members of the Young Globe Company under the direction of Old Globe Associate Director David McClendon.
