Cincinnati Milacron posted a loss of $3.9 million for the third quarter, contrasted with earnings of $5 million in the year-ago period. The Cincinnati-based company blamed the poor results on a decline in new business, as well as pricing pressures from imported metal-cutting machines. The company also noted that it is still burdened with the costs of excess capacity in its semiconductor materials business and that robot margins are also under severe pressure due to a postponement in capital spending by the automotive industry.
