F.W. Woolworth’s income rose 17% to $54 million in the third quarter. The New York-based retail company credited results to increases in specialty stores’ operating income, attributable to improvements in footwear and apparel divisions, and improved operating results in all general merchandise divisions, except Woolworth/Woolco in Canada. Revenue was up 10.8% to $1.76 billion.
