MGM/UA Communications reported a loss of $88.1 million for the fiscal year ended Aug. 31, compared to income of $17.8 million last year. The Beverly Hills-based company said television and new feature film productions that cost about $160 million were not released by the end of the fiscal year. Adding to the losses were writedowns on films already released. For the fourth quarter, the company lost $46.2 million.
