* * 1/2 DRAMARAMA. “Box Office Bomb.” Questionmark. Due to a reliance on the same frantic rhythm, many of the tunes on the L.A. band’s second album blur together, and tunes such as “Modesty Personified” sound forced and precious instead of witty and clever. Dramarama really needs to relax and stop trying so hard. When the band calms down and lets things happen, “Box Office Bomb” is close to wonderful. “Steve + Edie” is a tidy blend of lighthearted pop sarcasm, and if “New Dream” and “It’s Still Warm” sound a bit like the Replacements’ attempt at the Who, they’re still nifty tunes that present flashes of a genuinely interesting band.
