Mickey and Minnie Mouse will wave both the Stars and Stripes and the Hammer and Sickle flag to greet Soviet animation director Fyodor Khitruk today when he tours the Walt Disney Studios. During a weeklong visit under the aegis of the American-Soviet Film Initiative, Khitruk will meet with executives from ABC, NBC and the Disney, Hanna-Barbera, Filmation, Marvel and Jambre studios, seeking to arrange exchanges of American and Soviet animation. Khitruk’s most recent film, “The Island,” received awards at the Krakow and Cannes festivals.
