A 26-year-old Fountain Valley man was fatally injured early Sunday when he failed to stop at a red light and his Porsche sports car was struck in the intersection by another car, police said.

Bernard F. Selz was pronounced dead at the scene at the intersection of Euclid Avenue and 1st Street shortly before 2 a.m., Santa Ana Police Lt. David Salazar said.

Salazar said Selz, who was traveling south on Euclid, failed to stop for a red light while making a left turn and turned into the path of a westbound 1971 Lincoln.

The driver of the Lincoln, identified as Raymond C. Nieto, 40, of Santa Ana, was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving, Salazar said.

However, Salazar said that Nieto, who was treated for facial cuts at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and later released, was not at fault in the collision.
