DOT Choice Vows to Press Airlines on Safety Issue

WASHINGTON — James H. Burnley IV, the nominee for secretary of the Department of Transportation, promised Tuesday to strengthen the nation’s air traffic control system and make sure the airlines are “not about to slack off” when it comes to safety. Burnley also told a Senate panel confirmation hearing that he would consider restructuring the FAA to make it more efficient.
