Coast Guard Ends Search for Trawler

ST. JOHN'S, Canada — Rescue officials Wednesday gave up a two-day search for a fishing vessel and its 33 South Korean crew members who vanished in stormy seas off Newfoundland.
The search was suspended Wednesday night after other ships and aircraft failed to turn up any sign of either the crew or the trawler Hosanna I after two days of scouring the area, said Lt. John Sturtz of the U.S. Coast Guard in New York.
“If we should find something else or if a passing motor vessel should come up with some results, we’ll have to look at it and then there’s a possibility that we could reopen it,” said Sturtz.
“But at this time the case is suspended,” he said.
