Social Security and Slashing the Deficit
In your editorial The Times takes Congress and the President to task for lack of courage to check the growth of the entitlement programs including Social Security.
The Times should urge Congress and the President also to make sacrifices.
The Times should urge Congress to rescind its last unconscionable pay raise or at least not to take the increase for a few months. The Times should urge Congress to reduce its bloated office staffs.
The Times should urge Congress to enact realistic tax laws so that there be no loopholes and that big business and the rich pay their fair share of income taxes.
