NBC news correspondent/anchor Connie Chung was in L.A. all week--but not to return as a local anchor (she was at Channel 2 until moving to The Big Time). Instead, she was here asking folks in the entertainment industry about . . . sex.

It’s all for an hour news special to air Dec. 29--tentative title “Scared Sexless”--about the impact of the new sexual awareness on social behavior, politics, the arts and marital stability around the country.

Said Chung: “We’re trying to find out if there’s a new sexual conservatism.”

Among interviewees: Alan Alda, producer John Davis (son of Marvin), the Rams’ Marcus Allen and racer/playboy/budding actor Danny Sullivan. Sullivan, said Chung, revealed that he “sowed most of his wild oats in his 20s and early 30s and is more monogamous now.” Also that he has voluntarily been tested twice for exposure to the AIDS virus (negative both times), she reports.

Chung found that teens generally are still curious about sex and “are not curbing their sexual activity because of the AIDS crisis.” Singles in their 20s and 30s “are the most concerned and afraid--they feel cheated that they missed out on the sexual revolution.” Married adults are still engaging in extramarital sex--experts figure there is infidelity in every other household.
