AND NOW HERE’S THE NEWS: David Lee Roth’s new album, titled “Skyscraper,” is scheduled now for mid-January release (with a single due New Year’s Eve). The record will feature such songs as “Just Like Paradise,” “Hina” (about a South Pacific goddess of the moon), “The Bottom Line” (a Steve Vai guitar workout), “Two Fools a Minute,” “Knucklebones” and the title cut. Roth will probably tour later next spring, with new bassist Matt Bissonette (his drummer Greg’s brother) replacing Billy Sheehan. . . . And back to the Wave for a moment. With the help of local marketing expert James Lewis, the station has put together a “Wave Aid” benefit compilation release, with all proceeds going to the American Foundation for AIDS Research. Due this week, the pop/New Age package (available only on cassette or CD) will include recent songs from Swing Out Sister, Suzanne Vega, Mannheim Steamroller, Jennifer Warnes, David Benoit, Yanni and Justo Almario.
