Infant Missing From Hospital Returned

A 19-day-old boy allegedly abducted Saturday morning by his father from Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance was returned to the hospital 10 hours later by the suspect’s sister, a sheriff’s spokesman said.
The infant, originally abandoned by its mother the day after its birth, was returned to the hospital in good health, deputies said.
The baby had been removed from his parents’ care because he showed signs of cocaine addiction and was in protective custody at the hospital when he was abducted, deputies said.
Being sought by authorities was the infant’s father, Gregory Porter, 33, a transient, who, according to deputies, walked into the hospital wearing hospital clothing and then left in dark street clothes carrying a duffel bag apparently containing the infant.
The baby’s mother, Anoug Porter, 26, also a transient, was taken into custody at her mother’s Baldwin Hills home and charged with child abduction, Sheriff’s Deputy Van Mosley said.
