A 19-day-old infant who had been removed from his parents’ care because he showed signs of cocaine addiction was abducted from Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance on Saturday morning, and authorities believe the baby’s parents are responsible.

The baby’s mother has been arrested, and authorities are looking for the infant and his father. Los Angeles County sheriffs deputies said Gregory Porter, 33, sneaked into the hospital dressed as an employee and left with the baby in a duffel bag at 6:30 a.m.

By 9:30 a.m., deputies had discovered the infant’s mother, Anoug Porter, 26, hiding in a clothes dryer in her mother’s Baldwin Hills home. Anoug Porter has been charged with child abduction.

Deputies said hospital employees have identified Gregory Porter, who was last seen leaving the hospital wearing dark street clothes and carrying a duffel bag, as the baby’s abductor. Deputies found hospital clothes in a brown Renault, parked near the home of Anoug Porter’s mother. They said the car belonged to the Porters.

The Porters, both of whom also use other names, were described by deputies as transients who frequent parks and other areas in South-Central Los Angeles.
