Dale Midkiff, who played the young Jock Ewing in “Dallas: The Early Years,” has been cast as Elvis Presley in “Elvis and Me,” a four-hour dramatization of Priscilla Beaulieu Presley’s book about her life with the king of rock ‘n’ roll. Presley, now one of the stars of “Dallas,” will be portrayed in the ABC movie by Susan Walters.

Good news for “Dobie Gillis” fans. CBS has commissioned a TV movie reuniting many of the original cast members, including Dwayne Hickman as Dobie and Bob Denver as Maynard G. Krebs. Also back for “Bring Me the Head of Dobie Gillis” is Sheila James as Zelda, who is now Mrs. Gillis. But Connie Stevens, not Tuesday Weld, will appear as Thalia Menninger.

ABC has set Dec. 3 as the telecast date for its new production of Neil Simon’s play “Plaza Suite.” Unlike the 1971 film, which had Walter Matthau playing opposite different actresses in three separate stories, the TV adaptation will have Carol Burnett as the unifying performer. Her co-stars: Dabney Coleman, Richard Crenna and Hal Holbrook.

Jessica Tandy re-creates her Tony Award-winning role in “Foxfire,” a TV adaptation of the stage play that will air as a “Hallmark Hall of Fame” on CBS Dec. 13. Her husband, Hume Cronyn, who also starred in the Broadway production, is on hand too. They play an Appalachian farm couple, with John Denver as their son.
