Thanks to slowly building desert winds, mostly clear skies, with daytime temperatures in the low 70s, should prevail in Southern California for Thanksgiving Day, forecasters said Tuesday.

Meteorologist Mike Smith of WeatherData Inc., which provides forecasts for The Times, said Santa Ana winds from the northeast are expected to begin this afternoon, clearing out what few clouds may be in the area.

The National Weather Service added that the anticipated 70-degree weather should extend into the weekend. The overnight lows for the next few days should be in the low 50s and may dip into the 40s in the inland valleys.
