“Project X’s” rental chart dip last week wasn’t an indication of a major decline. It slipped two notches to No. 11 on Billboard magazine’s rental chart, but rebounded strongly to No. 5 this week. There seems to be no let-up in the popularity of “Lethal Weapon,” which has been the No. 1 rental since its chart debut three weeks ago. The fast-rising “River’s Edge”--a surprise rental hit--may crash the Top 5. It’s up four notches to No. 6. “Making Mr. Right,” a comedy about a publicist romancing an android, climbed to No. 17. “Extreme Prejudice,” the violent modern Western starring Nick Nolte, entered the chart at No. 14. “Outrageous Fortune,” with Bette Midler and Shelley Long, debuted on the rental chart at No. 37 but is expected to jump into the Top 10 next week. “Lady and the Tramp” is still No. 1 on the sales chart, which measures sales to retailers and distributors. Other sales charts: “The Making of the ‘Touch of Grey’ Video and More” heads the music video chart; “Golf My Way With Jack Nicklaus” is the No. 1 recreational sports video.

* “Harry and the Hendersons”--a sitcom-style monster movie featuring Bigfoot, with an E.T.-like temperament--was an instant rental hit, entering the chart at No. 10.
