Late-season tornadoes struck Texas for the second time in two weeks, killing a mother and daughter and injuring two other family members when their trailer was destroyed. Juanita Paniagua, 23, and her 9-year-old daughter, Victoria, died when their mobile home was destroyed by a tornado, Matagorda Sheriff Sam Hurta said. Two of her sons were injured. The tornado struck along a highway between Sugar Valley and Van Vleck, unincorporated communities about 70 miles south of Houston, Hurta said. In Wharton County, southwest of Houston, two twisters touched down before dawn, ripping roofs off some homes and damaging three trailers at an oil well site but causing no injuries, county official Emmett Cook said. The tornadoes came after storms ripped through east and central Texas last week, killing 10 people, injuring more than 160 and damaging scores of homes and businesses.
