The California Highway Patrol will conduct a drinking-driver checkpoint tonight in an effort to reduce the number of alcohol-related accidents, Officer Bob Melton said.
The location of the East County checkpoint will be announced on local radio stations two hours before it opens, Melton said.
This will be the first CHP sobriety checkpoint since Labor Day weekend in 1986, Melton said.
