UCLA Women Lose Season Opener, 71-61

The UCLA women’s basketball team spotted Stephen F. Austin a 10-0 lead, then went on to lose its season opener by 10 points Friday in the first round of the University of Hawaii’s Wahine tournament, 71-61.
Mozelle Brooks led Stephen F. Austin, of Nacogdoches, Tex., with 29 points. Senior guard Dora Dome had 16 points for the Bruins, who committed 26 turnovers.
UCLA plays Northern Arizona today in the consolation semifinals.
