The second sobriety checkpoint to be operated by the San Diego Police Department over the Thanksgiving weekend stopped 808 motorists and led to just one arrest, a department spokesman said.

The checkpoint operated in the 1900 block of Garnett Avenue in Pacific Beach between 10 p.m. Friday and 2:30 a.m. Saturday.

Department spokesman Bill Robinson said the one arrest came when the motorist pulled out of the stopped line of traffic and drove off in the opposite direction, against one-way traffic.

“That drew the attention of our officers,” Robinson said.

The motorist was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

At the department’s first sobriety checkpoint, on El Cajon Boulevard last Wednesday night, 910 vehicles were stopped and 12 motorists were arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.
