Commonwealth Mortgage Corp. of America, San Diego, has appointed Senior Vice President Douglas K. Schaumburg to direct its residential mortgage operations in Southern California, Arizona, Nevada and New Mexico. Schaumburg previously headed the firm’s Southern California offices.

George B. Longo has been elected presdident of the Ventura-Santa Barbara Counties chapter of the National Assn. of Independent Fee Appraisers at their annual meeting in Norfolk, Va. Longo previously served as chairman of the evaluation committee of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors.

RE/MAX, national realty franchise organization, has 83 franchises in Southern California and two in the San Fernando Valley. An item published Nov. 29 incorrectly reported only two offices in the Southland.

Robert Cooke, real estate broker for Torrance-based Arrow Realty & Investments, has been elected president of the Southern California chapter of the National Council of Exchangors, a group of professionals who specialize in solving real-estate-related problems.

Elliott Light has been promoted to vice president of sales and marketing for Gfeller Development Co., Tustin. Light will oversee sales and marketing activities for the firm’s projects under development in Corona, Coto de Caza, Riverside and Phillips Ranch in Pomona.

Koke Ahankoob, formerly with Country Club Realtors, has opened an RE/MAX realty office at 17418 Chatsworth St., Granada Hills. Along with a Woodland Hills office, these are the only two in Southern California operated by the 1,400-unit franchise organization but it plans to open others in the Southland, a spokesman said.

Karney Hodge, director of the California Housing Finance Agency, has been reelected vice president of the National Council of State Housing Agencies at its annual conference in Boston.

Paul E. Stansen has been named vice president of Westoaks Realty Group headquartered in Thousand Oaks.

Patricia Carmichael has been appointed vice president, sales and marketing, for Pacifica Corp., Westlake Village, where she will direct the firm’s new projects in Central and Southern California.

Walter H. Robertson has been named regional publisher of the Greater Los Angeles edition of Black’s Guide, an office space directory.

Ray Allard has been appointed project manager for Fuscoe, Williams, Lindgren & Short, a civil engineering firm in Riverside.

Lew Hykes, formerly with Davcon Inc., Irvine, has been named to head the new tenant improvement division of the Toman Co., an Irvine-based developer. The division will offer interior construction services to industrial, commercial and office clients.

Sonnenblick-Goldman Corp. has announced the appointment of Thomas J. Barrack Jr. as partner and chief executive officer of the firm’s western region.

Harolyn Crandall and Roger Merryman have been promoted to new vice presidents at World Title Co., Burbank.

Andrew Levant has been appointed vice president of business development for Kennedy-Wilson Inc., Santa Monica.

The Lusk Co. has promoted Thomas H. Pletcher to vice president of land acquisition.

Columbia Savings Realty Group, Beverly Hills, a subsidiary of Columbia Savings & Loan, has promoted Sondra Bailey to vice president, marketing.
