A veteran Los Angeles County sheriff’s sergeant and three deputies were charged Monday with vandalizing a San Bernardino County mobile home where they served a search warrant, a department spokesman said.

One of the deputies, Dennis Robinson, also was charged with petty theft for allegedly stealing a portable generator from the home, sheriff’s spokesman Gabe Ramirez said.

Sgt. Richard Rupert, a 16-year veteran of the department, and Deputies Richard Talbot, Mario Manzo and Robinson were each charged with one count of vandalism in the Sept. 16 incident.

The four worked at the department’s substation in the City of Industry. It was unclear how the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department became involved in an investigation in San Bernardino County, Ramirez said.

Three suspects were arrested and more than 300 marijuana plants were seized during the raid, he said.

The four Sheriff’s Department personnel were relieved of duty Oct. 27 and are scheduled to be arraigned in Victorville Municipal Court Dec. 14, Ramirez said.

Ramirez said Talbot has been a deputy for 13 years, Manzo for nine years and Robinson for five years.
