Local News in Brief : Ex-CHP Officer Pleads No Contest in Robbery
A former California Highway Patrol officer from Canyon Country pleaded no contest Monday to robbing a Pacoima grocery store of $93,000 and attempting to rob two other markets.
William Francis Wilson Jr., 43, is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 13 in San Fernando Superior Court on one count each of robbery, attempted robbery and attempted grand theft.
The charges stem from the April 10 robbery of Tresierras Market on Van Nuys Boulevard in Pacoima, the attempted robbery of La Placita Market on Laurel Canyon Boulevard in Pacoima the same day and the June 22 attempted robbery of Carlton’s Market on Ramona Boulevard in El Monte.
Wilson, who posed as an FBI agent to grocery store employees, has pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to two counts of impersonating an FBI agent.
Free on $25,000 bail for the state offenses and $20,000 bail for the federal ones, Wilson is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 15 on the federal counts.
The maximum sentence Wilson could receive for the state offenses is seven years, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Pamela Davis-Springer. He faces a maximum of six years in prison for the federal offenses, Assistant U.S. Atty. Carolyn Kubota said.
