Local News in Brief : Anaheim : Homeowners Group Seeks Amusements Tax

Accusing city officials of “poor long-term planning,” an Anaheim homeowners group is scheduled today to present the City Council with a proposal to levy a 10% admission tax on amusement attractions to help pay for traffic and utility services.

Leaders of Homeowners for Maintaining Their Environment, or Anaheim HOME, said the tax is needed because the city’s amusement and tourist industry has “escaped paying its fair share of taxes to help support the delivery of services.”

The tax would be imposed on admission fees at Disneyland, Anaheim Stadium, the Convention Center, theaters and other attractions but would exclude events sponsored by nonprofit or charitable organizations.
