Local News in Brief : Firefighter’s Testimony

Share

Firefighter Sharyl Pleubuch Seward, who burst into tears and hurried from a Los Angeles Fire Department Board of Rights hearing, regained her composure Tuesday and completed three days of cross examination on her account of alleged sexual harassment at a Westchester station.

Seward testified that Firefighter Anthony Morales, 33, a seven-year veteran, stuck his finger in her mouth on at least three occasions. Morales has been accused of slapping Seward on the buttocks, reaching toward her chest, trying to kiss her and showing himself in the nude while she was working out in an upstairs dormitory in February.

Under questioning by board members on Tuesday, Seward described how she met with two battalion chiefs and three captains at the station after a rumor surfaced that a nude fireman had “flashed her.”

Seward said that when she indicated that the rumor had substance, there was a sudden silence and the subject was not pursued. “They should have known” about the incidents, Seward said.
