Austria Judges Protest Cuts, Stage Walkout

VIENNA —
Judges throughout Austria staged a one-day strike on Tuesday, and a murder trial was interrupted at a court in Eisenstadt, southeast of Vienna, where the judges held a protest meeting.
They oppose plans to cut 13 of the 1,530 judicial posts and eliminate a tax allowance as part of an austerity budget under consideration by Parliament.
