Local News in Brief : La Palma : City Council Chooses Herman for Mayor
City Councilman Larry Herman is the unanimous choice for mayor by fellow members of the City Council.
Herman, who was elected to the largely ceremonial post for one year, succeeds City Councilman Richard Polis, a design engineer. Herman has served on the La Palma council for a year.
Polis, who has served on the council since November, 1984, said Wednesday of Herman: “I think he’ll go a good job; he was the mayor pro tem the entire year I was mayor, and I could always count on him to fill in for me when I wasn’t available.”
Herman, who is a quality control supervisor for Monsanto Corp., will preside at his first council meeting Dec. 15.
