Passages from the transcript of Michael K. Deaver’s sworn testimony to the House Energy and Commerce investigation subcommittee were read to jurors in Deaver’s perjury trial. Prosecutors also began playing a recording of Deaver’s grand jury testimony. Earlier, prosecutors called Gennora Kennan, the foreman of the grand jury that indicted Deaver, as the 52nd and final witness of their direct case. Kennan testified to technical details of Deaver’s appearance before the grand jury. Deaver is accused of lying to the grand jury and the House subcommittee when he said he could not recall a series of contacts with former Reagan Administration colleagues.
