France and Iran agreed to reduce their presence in each other’s capital to three diplomats until relations are restored, the French Foreign Ministry said. Five of the eight French Embassy workers still in Tehran would return soon to Paris, and the remaining three would be relieved eventually. The agreement is the result of the end of an “embassy war” that began in July when an Iranian diplomat, Wahdi Gordji, refused to surrender for questioning about a wave of Paris bombings. On Sunday, Gordji was allowed to leave Paris, and Tehran lifted a retaliatory blockade of the French Embassy.
