Older Drivers
Since July 1, licensed California drivers 55 years and older have been eligible to take a DMV-approved course called Mature Drivers Improvement. This one-day class entitles drivers to apply for a 5% vehicle insurance reduction for three years.
But the course also makes the driver aware of his responsibilities, and his aging and possible diminishing lack of safe-driving skills. Medication and fatigue affect driving--even for younger people.
The class fees are reasonable. It is truly a money and lifesaving seven hours.
