Local News in Brief : Leak Forces Relocation
A natural gas leak Monday at the Biscailuz Center jail facility in the City Terrace area--the third such incident there in two days--forced authorities to relocate 259 inmates from the facility.
Southern California Edison Co. crews discovered the leak while repairing two other leaks that had prompted the transfer of 417 inmates from Biscailuz to the Men’s Central Jail, said Deputy Gabe Ramirez of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. The crews were continuing to search for other leaks, Ramirez said.
Officials said 550 prisoners remain at the jail.
