Local News in Brief : Jail in Food Tampering

A woman who was arrested after tampering with a bottle of fruit punch in a Glendale supermarket has been sentenced to six months in jail for vandalism, trespassing and unlawful possession of a hypodermic syringe.

The woman, Catherine Elizabeth Davis, 41, of Glendale, was also sentenced to three months’ probation, ordered to undergo psychiatric counseling and forbidden to use drugs, Deputy Dist. Atty. Phil Heeger said.

Davis was arrested Oct. 12 on suspicion of felony food tampering after a customer at an Albertsons market saw her holding an open bottle of Gatorade and a syringe.

Los Angeles County sheriff’s chemists found no drugs or toxic substances in the syringe or the bottle.
