Neiman-Marcus Group posted a loss of $2.5 million in its first quarter as an independent company. In the year-ago period, when the Chestnut Hill, Mass., retailer was operated by Carter Hawley Hale Stores as its specialty store division, Neiman-Marcus Group reported income of $14.9 million. The company said the loss was due, in part, to a change in depreciation schedules that resulted in an after-tax charge of $14.3 million. Revenue was up 6.4% to $297.8 million.
