Bob Hope plans a Christmas visit to American troops in the Persian Gulf region, Pentagon officials said Tuesday. Defense Secretary Frank Carlucci “thinks it’s a good idea,” an official told United Press International. Hope, 85, has made more than 40 trips to entertain American forces overseas since 1942, most recently to Beirut in 1983.
