Casting a Responsible Vote

Share

The Glendale City Council exists to serve and support the city’s residents, to act responsibly and in accordance with their wishes.

The decision of Councilman John F. Day to vote in favor of demolishing the Civic Auditorium is by his own admission reactionary, and counter to the wishes of those who were most outspoken at the Nov. 30 “Save the Civic” rally.

Day may justifiably be peeved at the response his opinions provoked, but to allow personal frustration and embarrassment to cloud official judgment is irresponsible.

I hope that before the final vote in January Councilman Day will realize that his humble duty to serve the people is more important than a perceived need to save face.
