Movie Academy Donates to Third World Schools

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has awarded grants and scholarships of up to $5,000 to four educational institutions in Third World countries.

The schools are the National Film and Television Institute in Ghana, the Film and Television Institute of India, the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication and the University of the Philippines.

Additional grants were awarded to the American Film Institute for its academy internship program and its Alumni Writers’ Workshop, New York University, the University of Southern Mississippi and the Film Art Fund of the Anthology Film Archives in New York for its film preservation program.
