Belli Files Two Suits in PSA Crash

SAN FRANCISCO — Lawyer Melvin Belli filed damage suits Thursday in San Francisco Superior Court against Pacific Southwest Airlines and the City of Los Angeles on behalf of families of two victims of Monday’s PSA jet crash.
The city was named as a defendant because Belli said its airport is responsible for safe passage aboard a plane, just as the airline is responsible for safe passage in the air.
The FBI said Thursday the man it suspects of causing the crash, David A. Burke, managed to get past a metal detector at Los Angeles International Airport with a .44-magnum pistol.
The suits were filed by William Scafire of San Francisco, who lost his wife, Camille, in the crash, and Andrew Andrusick of Marin County, who lost his wife, Karin Krom.
