Whooping Cough, Measles, Increase Sharply in U.S.

Between 1980 and 1985, the nation experienced a significant increase in the number of reported cases of measles, mumps and whooping cough, the Children’s Defense Fund said Friday, while the level of immunization of preschool children generally worsened.

The fund, in a new 32-page report, blamed the Reagan Administration for a flagging commitment to protecting children’s health.
