James K. LaFleur,chairman, president and chief executive of GTI Corp., which moved this year from San Diego to Burbank, will retire on April 25, 1988, the company said Monday. LaFleur will be replaced by Ronald Lust, GTI’s chief financial officer.

GTI moved to Burbank after William Venter,a South African investor, took a controlling interest in the company.

La Fleur said he would “pursue other business interests” and that his retirement was prompted by “purely personal” reasons.

Lust, in a prepared statement released on Monday, said GTI plans “no major strategy changes.” The company will “continue to look for acquisitions which will bring solid value to the future of the company,” according to Lust.

GTI also announced that John C. Brittain, corporate vice president, was named president of the company’s electronics group. Remo A. Ionni,a corporate vice president, was named president of GTI’S circuits group.

GTI manufactures electronic component parts, circuit boards and electronic component-processing equipment for the automotive, electronics and computer industries.
