Allied-Signal said 100 employees will be laid off beginning Jan. 31 by its Allied-Signal Aerospace subsidiary, headquartered in Torrance. A spokesman said the layoffs will reduce duplication of headquarters personnel remaining from the 1985 merger of Allied Inc. and Signal Corp. The move will affect about 20 people in the Los Angeles area, with the rest of the cuts coming at facilities in Arlington, Va. Allied-Signal Aerospace, which makes aircraft parts, employs about 6,500 people in the Los Angeles area, about 6,100 of whom work in Torrance.
