The father of a 9-year-old whose frozen body was found along a Nebraska highway on Christmas Eve, 1985, was arrested on a child-abuse charge, police said. The body of Daniel E. Stutzman had gone unidentified until last week, when a Nebraska state laboratory matched a palm print from the body with one from the boy’s school records, said Thayer County, Neb., prosecutor Daniel Werner. The boy’s father, Eli Stutzman, was arrested on a charge of felony child abuse at a mobile home near the north-central Texas town of Azle and was ordered held at the Tarrant County Jail in Fort Worth on $500,000 bail, police said. Werner said Stutzman waived extradition and was expected to go to Nebraska this week. The offense carries up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
