Pepperdine Falls, 83-66, at Stillwater

STILLWATER, Okla. — John Starks had 20 points and 10 rebounds Monday night, helping Oklahoma State to an 83-66 victory over Pepperdine.
After trailing, 37-36, at halftime, the Waves (4-2) got even, 38-38, on a tip-in by Craig Davis with 17:14 left before the Cowboys (3-3) pulled away by making 63% of their shots after halftime.
Robert Smith’s dunk put Oklahoma State ahead to stay, and the Cowboys blew the game open with a 15-2 surge minutes later to leave Pepperdine lagging, 72-54. Richard Dumas capped the burst by making 3 of 4 free throws after two technicals against the Pepperdine bench with 6:01 left.
“Our players played with more and more confidence and they have a much better understanding of what we are trying to do,” Oklahoma State Coach Leonard Hamilton said. “I thought we executed very, very, well tonight.”
Tom Lewis had 25 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals for the Waves. Lewis sank 9 of 14 shots, including 2 of 3 three-pointers, and made 5 free throws without a miss.
Sylvester Kincheon had 18 points for Oklahoma State, and Dumas added 16. Pepperdine’s Levy Middlebrooks contributed 13 points and 8 rebounds, and Davis had 12 points for the Waves, who committed 16 turnovers.
