Last week’s Top 2 ratings champs maintained the status quo with “The Cosby Show” coming first and its critically panned but apparently popular spinoff, “A Different World,” running a close second. “6O Minutes” and “Night Court” managed to displace last week’s “The Golden Girls” and “Growing Pains” for 3rd and 5th places, respectively. Weekly network averages: NBC, 15.6 rating/26 share; CBS, 13.6/22; ABC, 12.4/20. Evening news ratings: CBS 11.6, NBC 10.8, ABC 10.5. (One Nielsen point equals 886,000 homes; “share” refers to the percentage of households watching a particular program.) The complete Nielsens appear on Page 12.

* ABC’s “Barbara Walters Special,” featuring interviews with Eddie Murphy, Sean Connery and Don Johnson, also cracked the Top 10, landing in 6th place, moving “Growing Pains” and “Golden Girls” down to the 8th and 9th ranks.
