Times Mirror said it has sold about 14,000 acres of timberland in Marion and Linn counties, Oregon, to Willamette Industries for an undisclosed price. With the completion of this sale, Times Mirror will have sold more than 94,000 acres for about $63 million thus far in 1987. The Los Angeles company, which owns The Times and other media properties, still holds about 171,000 acres of timberland in Oregon and about 6,000 acres in Washington. As previously announced, the company plans to sell its timberland over time, and further sales are expected.
