Pico Rivera : Swap Meet at Drive-In

The Pico Rivera Planning Commission is considering allowing Pacific Theaters to operate a daytime swap meet at a four-screen drive-in at Washington and Paramount boulevards.

The request for a conditional use permit has been before the commission for about three months and has drawn no public comment at meetings Sept. 23 and Dec. 9, Planning Director John Walker said. He attributed the lack of controversy to the Fiesta-4 Drive-In being in an industrial area with no adjacent residences.

The commission delayed voting on the conditional use permit because of concerns about traffic management, parking, and that the swap meet would promote the sale of stolen goods. Pacific Theaters would use two of the four screen areas for vendors and the other two for parking for an estimated 1,300 vehicles.
