Iran attacked two ships in the Persian Gulf--a Maldives-flag vessel carrying fertilizer and a Greek tanker, shipping officials said. Two salvage tugboats rushed to help the 16,322-ton Island Transporter after picking up distress calls, but there were no immediate reports of casualties. The Greek-registered, 29,990-ton World Produce was hit with at least six rocket-propelled grenades near the Strait of Hormuz. No injuries were reported. Meanwhile, Iraq said its warplanes attacked three ships off Iran’s coast. Gulf-based shipping officials confirmed that Iraqi warplanes struck at least one vessel, the Cypriot-flagged, 27,244-ton Mimi M.
