The 54-year-old battle over dancin’ in Anson isn’t over yet. The school board in the West Texas town voted this week not to allow the annual high school prom to take place on school property. The city government eased its 1933 ban on public dancing in August, despite opposition from fundamentalist churches. But the move didn’t affect the ban on dancing on school property, which still carries a $15 fine for each violation. Anson High School student body president Peter Torres is urging 18-year-old students to vote next April against the reelection of two anti-dance school board members. So far, 48 students are eligible to vote.
