Economic Experts

Your editorial (“A Dread With No Name,” Dec. 6) regarding contradicting and inconsistent expert opinions and explanations of stock market behavior was right to the point. “ . . . Shameless disregard of any minimally decent standard of consistency . . . “ may be an euphemism for ignorance and stupidity. What is really troubling though is that these same “experts” may be the same people (or belong to the same fraternity) who formulate or influence our economic policy.
When you consider that there is nothing more frightening than ignorance in action, your “nameless dread” takes on added dimensions.
